Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment and Tea Tree Oil

There's a new molluscum contagiosum treatment that you can do at home, and it costs very little. You may even have the ingredients for this remedy in your home medicine cabinet.

The warts, bumps, and pustules are caused by a virus that can be successfully treated at home in about 90% of the cases, without the painful cutting, burning, or freezing that is frequently used now.

What's the Secret?

Amazingly, lots of people have tried using either tea tree oil or iodine at home as a Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment, but most folks have never used both together.

In a peer reviewed scientific study, in the Journal Of Drugs In Dermatology online magazine, volume 11, issue 3, for March 2012, doctors Eric Markum and John Baillie, looked at the effects of both iodine and tea tree oil on the warts caused by the molluscum virus.

53 children, were treated twice daily with the topical application of tea tree oil, iodine, or a combination of both iodine and tea tree oil together. 30 days later, 48 of the children were seen again to check on their progress.

The results were amazing. Of greater than 90% reduction in the number of lesions was observed in 16 of the 19 children treated with tea tree oil and iodine combination. In the group treated with iodine alone, only one of 16 children showed improvement. In the children treated with tea tree oil alone, three of the 18 children showed a reduction in warts.

According to the doctors, the combination of tea tree oil and iodine "offers a safe therapeutic alternative in the treatment of childhood molluscum".

What You Can Do

Is there a home remedy, a Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment that is safe? Effective? Inexpensive? How can you use this information?

If you have a wart that just won't go away, this is worth a try. With a 90% success rate in the study group, you'd be crazy not to try it. What's more, "No child discontinued treatment due to adverse events." This is quite possibly the safest over the counter remedy or home treatment available for warts.

The really exciting news though is that there is already a product developed with tea tree oil and iodine that was designed to treat molluscum contagiosum. The product used to be called "Virucid" but is now known as ZymaDerm. ZymaDerm is available from the Amazon online, or you can click on the ZymaDerm link here .
